London and Wales, September 2002
We arrived in London on 30 August, spent three nights, and then took the train to Wales, where we rented a car and toured a small area in the south from the English border to Pembroke. As usual, we didn't have the time to see all the sights of interest to us even in this small area. The sights we did see fell into a number of categories familiar from many of our trips: museums, churches, castles, gardens, and countryside . This trip was notable for including a new category, industrial archeological (IA) sites. We'd seen a little IA in other countries (canals in Europe, Hagley Mills in Delaware), but we made a determined effort to identify such things before taking this trip, and we visited many more than usual. England and Wales are particulary good places to see IA, since the industrial revolution started early there, and they have preserved many sites, rather than building over them or demolishing them.
Of the 614 photos I took during the 17 days of this trip, I have posted 79. Click on any link below to go to a page with the photo and a short legend.
