This Celtic cross outside Carew Castle commemorates a king of Deheubarth who died in 1035. The inscription reads:
MARGIT
EUT. RE
X. ETG (uln). FILIUS
According to the sign next to the cross, this means Margiteut, son of Etguin (Maredudd ap Edwin in Welsh). Margiteut was joint king of Deheubarth.
