Another, more modern generator is installed at Aberdulais Falls, too. It is out of sight, buried in a vertical tunnel. It is a turbine made by Flygt of Sweden, and has a four-bladed propellor 0.85 meters in diameter being turned by a flow of water with 11.3 meter head flowing at 3,000 liters per second. The turbine directly drives a generator which is rated at 200 kW (440 Volts). These figures may or may not be accurate; I got the impression a couple of times on this trip that no one checks the accuracy of museum labels. If they are accurate, they imply the modern turbine and the old overshot waterwheel are of comparable efficiency, considering the difference in water head and the difference in flow rate.
