On 15 Sep 1686 he was a town officer of Potapsco, Maryland. DUR013: Rent Rolls, Liber 2 Folio 304. Tract Johnston. "Sur. 29 July 1659 for John Dickson on ye No. side potapsco River and on ye E. side Welshmans Creek ande belongs to ye orphans of Tho. Durbin Chris. Durbin heir at age." No entry in Patent Index for Thomas Durbin and Johnston. As of May 1996 have not found Welshmans Creek in any gazeteer or on any map. The Potapsco River runs west to east into Chesepeake Bay, with Carroll County on the north bank in the west, Baltimore County on the north bank in the east, and Howard County on the south bank in the west and Anne Arundel County on the south bank in the east. Johnston not, therefore, in Anne Arundel County.
