DEATH: DUR001. DUR005: "Mrs. Mary Durbin Van Law, 76, member of a pioneer Colorado family, died yesterday at the family home, 1635 Ogden St., following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Van Law was the wife of George S. Van Law and the mother of Durbin Van Law, Denver engineer. She was a daughter of Jesse Durbin and Lucy Cain Durbin, who established their home here in 1874. Upon the death of her father in 1884, she administered his estate and carried on affairs of the J. Durbin Dental & Surgical Supply Co., founded by her father in 1882. She married George S. Van Law in 1888. Both she and her husband had come to Colorado from Ohio, where they were born. In memory of her father, who was one of the founders and first trustees of the University of Denver, she created the Jesse Durbin loan fund for the benefit of worthy students of the university..."
