Gaby (short
for Gabriel) walked into our lives early one
evening in September of 1994. Becky, our
Schnauzer, alerted us in a very commanding
manner, with more than one woof, to some
extraordinary goings-on outdoors. A cat sat on
the windowsill. I went outside on the porch. Gaby
came close to me. I asked him if he was lost. He
looked up at me with those great big blue eyes
and answered "me-ow-ow".
What was I to do?
I brought him in and fed him. I did not know the
first thing about cats. I was a confirmed dog
lover since I was a child. I gave him a 7 oz. can
of Bumble Bee solid white albacore in water. In
between bites, not only did he purr, but he kept
saying "yum, yum, yum". I attempted to
locate his owner over the next three days. I
called the shelterand checked the bulletin board
at the grocery store.
This kitty cat is
so special, he is hypoallergenic. In a household
of allergy-prone humans, this proved to be the
deciding factor. We now had one cat!

Gabyloo
settles in nicely, not only with the family,
including our Schnauzer Becky, but also manages
to blend in very well with my collection of
bears! He greets people at the door, likes
keyboarding, and enjoys napping in Becky's crate,
even with Becky in it. Awesome! |
