Lykara Charters in Concert
May 20, 2001 Performance at
Black Box Theater, Howard County Center for the Performing
Arts
|
In her annual return to the Black Box Theater, Lykara consented to
perform for her many, many devoted fans (plus her piano teachers).
These annual pilgrimages to Ellicot City, Maryland, are always
standing-room-only events.
These four images were taken with a Canon PowerShot S-300 Digital
Elph digital still camera. As Lykara was dressed all in black, and as
the Black Box Theater is (how can we put this...) black, contrast is
somewhat lacking. The flowers are shown in one image because the
Charters family donated them for the recital.
We also have a selection of QuickTime movies. Unless you have a
really, really fast connection to the Internet, these will look best
if you download them to your computer first and then play them.
Instructions:
- Install QuickTime. You can get a free copy of QuickTime from
Apple if you don't
have it already installed. Then to download a clip --
- On a Windows machine: hold down the ALT key and click on a
link, or use the right mouse button to click on a link. You will
be prompted to find some place to store the clip.
- On a Mac: hold down the Option key and click on a link, or
click and hold on the link. You will be prompted to find some
place to store the clip.
- Recital 1: The Canon S-300 has the
ability to take short video clips, with sound. Lykara didn't know
that, and tried to be difficult when her father pointed the camera
at her. 35 seconds, 3.9 megabytes.
- Recital 2: Approximately 10 seconds
of her three minute recital piece. With titles, etc., it is 30
seconds, 3.1 megabytes.
- Swedish practice: Just a few
days after her return from two weeks in France, Lykara was
practicing on the piano. Meanwhile, her father had borrowed a
Canon GL-1 digital video camera from work, and was playing with
it. Yes, it is in Swedish.
- Terror practice: Lykara
brushes up on her piano skills after a couple weeks of globe
trotting, while her father terrorizes her. This clip is oddly
similar to the previous one, but should be viewed last.
